The Joy Formidable with Passion Pit in NY THIS WEEKEND!

Thursday January 7th 2010 @ 8:00 am by Tatyahna Cameron

JoyFormidableOver the past year or two Welsh three piece The Joy Formidable have been gaining more and more recognition for their enraptured, prolific pop alternative music. Sparking the interest of  many blogs after being on the front page of Hype Machine in 2008 for their first release A Balloon Called Morning, their success grew further when a fan made video that featured the various faces of self loving for  the track “Austere” that  became a viral hit. The video got so much attention for the band that it became banned from Youtube for the subject matter, which by the way was tastefully done.  You can check out the video below.

The Joy Formidable has gone to sell out their debut UK tour this past summer and release a new single, “Greyhounds in the Slips”. After the sold out tour they have gone to share the stage with Editors and Passion Pit, as well as embark on a quick stint in Japan with The Temper Trap at the end of the year. This week will start 2010 for the band, as they play four shows in New York City,  two of them with Passion Pit before they go back across seas to continue their tour with The Temper Trap. In March, The Joy Formidable will be releasing another new single in promotions for their debut full length which is set to be released in June.

Catch them while they’re here, because 2010 is the year for The Joy Formidable.
