Although the Shout Out Louds show in Williamsburg had been sold out for awhile, that didn’t stop droves of fans from lining up outside the Music Hall in search of anyone who might have an extra ticket to sell. Once inside, the crowd swelled with excitement when the band took the stage and opened with the poppy “1999” from their third album Work, that had been out less than a week.

Lead singer, Adam Olenius, who actually looks like a clone of Jason Schwartzman with his slight build and heavy five-o’clock shadow, politely introduced the second song, “Play the Game,” another one from their new album. With heart wrenching lyrics like “So I drink again/And I play the game/Like I did yesterday/Are you the same? Are you the same?” the mood was set and the audience knew they were in for a great show. Shout Out Louds didn’t disappoint.

Along with new songs, they also played classics like “Please Please Please,” “The Comeback” and “Very Loud,” all off their 2003 debut album Howl Howl Gaff Gaff. Fans sang along at the top of their lungs, practically drowning out Olenius’ voice during some points, while dancing ensued and beer was spilled. After being summoned back to the stage for an encore with high-pitched screams that demanded more, the band closed out their performance with “Impossible” from the 2007 album, Our Ill Wills…an excellent final note.

Shout Out Louds heads onto a European tour from here, which will include sold out shows in Germany and their home of Sweden. However, New York fans will have a chance to see them again in May at Webster Hall. The show isn’t sold out yet, so you may want to buy your ticket now…you don’t want to miss them the next time around.
