Variety shows are not just for your nine year old sister and seventies family bands. This January they are for a menagerie of Chicago based musicians. In celebration for the release of the new compilation album Joan of Arc Presents: Don’t Mind Control (Polyvinyl), the musicians featured on the album will be showcasing their work in a variety show held at The Empty Bottle in Chicago, IL on January 22.

Before the show, there will be an art show at Andrew Rafacz Gallery for its opening night of the two week run of “Postcard Trouble”. The show displays paintings and photography done by Bobby Burg and Jeremy Bolen, artists who have contributed to Joan of Arc frequently. The two will be performing with their current band Vacations during the reception.

Following the art show is the true event, the variety show at The Empty Bottle. The one time congregation of the whole Joan of Arc bunch will feature Vacations (ex-Chin Up, Chin Up), Tim Kinsella, Jeremy Boyle, The Zoo Wheel, Lites Alive, Pillars and Tongues, Disappears, A Tundra, and many more to be announced.

After the night of the show, there will be a few additional dates to promote the album, however not quite the hefty helping of artists, still something to look foward to. Afterward, Joan of Arc artists will continue on to tour Japan.
