Owl City’s ‘Ocean Eyes’ Gone Certified Gold

Owl CityWhether you like Owl City or not, you have to agree that this overly Postal Service sound-alike has had an incredible break out year. With the release of the album Ocean Eyes, Adam Young has done quite well with himself with a small venue tour as well as tours with The Scene Aesthetic  and  Unicorn Kid. The end of the year is now here, and his album has gone certified gold (sold 500,000 copies) which is a great present for the holidays, if you ask me.

The success has a huge part to do with the now mainstream single, “Fireflies” which hit the MTV audience by storm, and can be heard on Top 40 and radio alternative stations alike. It hit #1 in the Billboard Top 100, and is still within the top 5.  The song also hit number one in the iTunes charts in not only the US, but Canada, Denmark, and New Zealand.

So what’s next for Owl City after a whirlwind of magazine covers, touring, and topping the charts? Owl City will be continuing the sold out winter tour and after that will be headed overseas to tour the UK and then will join Cobra Starship on a tour in Australia and New Zealand. Seems like this owl is flying high!
