The Backstreet Boys Get “Bigger”
There is a line in the 1984 movie Spinal Tap that closely describes the Backstreet Boys; “I feel it’s like, it’s more like going, going to a, a national park or something. And there’s, you know, they preserve the moose. And that’s, that’s my childhood up there on stage. That moose, you know.”
The ‘boys’ and I use that term loosely for a group of men in their mid-30’s, are back with a new single and video for “Bigger.” Shot in the middle of Tokyo, the Boys appear to be having fun, which I’m not sure we’ve really ever seen them do. This time, they are more mature. There’s no cheesey dance moves or matching outfits, no poster girls for their heartaches. Playing video games and singing karaoke in the video, the remaining members of the group, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, A.J. McLean and Brian Littrell seem to be having the time of their life in this (and I hate to admit it) catchy song. The harmonies are dead on, and the music itself isn’t so poppy that you can’t stand it. The Backstreet Boys finally redeemed themselves.
