It’s hard to know what to make of Rene Lopez who’s NY Latin style music borders unintentional irony, but one thing is for sure, Lopez is no stranger to music. His father was a trumpet player in the Latin band Tipica ‘73 and Lopez spent most of his childhood in and out of Manhattan Salsa clubs and took a liking to show business and the music that surrounded him. Now branching out on his own, Lopez is set to release his new EP titled Johnny Wants to Be a Matador (Self Released) which blends a variety of sounds as the overall theme was to capture the sound and feel of the New York City streets. The EP drops on December 1st and if you’re in the New York area,there will be an album release party on December 3rd, which takes place at Nublu. You can also download the title track for free!
