From a life of wearing scrubs to rocking out on stage, Brooklyn-based band Bamboo Shoots has turned away from a life of professionalism to live out their dream of performing.

Days before leaving for medical school, singer/guitarist Avir Mitra received a life-changing phone call revealing that Bamboo Shoots were the winners of MTVu’s Best Music on Campus contest.  They signed with Epic Records and were performing in front of a live audience on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” just days after.

Next thing they know, Mitra, bassist Karl Sukhia, drummer Shiv Puri, and DJ Ankur Patel were in the studio recording their debut album Armour, in stores now.

After touring with the Plain White T’s and Soulja Boy, receiving a sponsorship from Gibson and a national ad campaign with Virgin, Bamboo Shoots are ready to hit the road to support their debut release.  Check out the dates below to see if their all night dance party is coming to a town near you!
