Free music is always good music, even if it’s actually mediocre. But, this particular free music is actually…good.

Starting September 1 (yes, today), Ben Lee is offering the album It Was Never about the Audience for a free download right here.

Lee recorded the album in his bedroom with the rest of his band, Noise Addict. The last release under the name Noise Addict was 14 years ago, an album entitled Meet the Real You. Though Lee is the only original member–it once consisted of Doron Kalinko, Daniel Kohn, Joel Wasserman, Daniel Mapp and Saul Smith, it now consists of Lou Barlow and Lara Meyerratken–”the principle is the same,” says the band’s website. Whatever that means. Regardless, it’s a fun listenand it’s free. There’s nothing wrong with that.
