The highly refined synth-pop quartet out of Sweden is hitting the road stateside in support of their lush sophomore release Islands. With Philip Ekstrom’s ethereal Robert Smith-esque vocals heading up the mast of this ship, the hands on deck round out an ensemble that breathes sincere passion into a genre that’s often hard to get right.

Tapping into your loafers with up-tempo cuts like “Dare,” and “Brick,” off the new LP, The Mary Onettes weave a delicate patchwork through the melancholy fields of the heart, and cling onto sincerity offering pop with a backbone, while not afraid to turn the tempo down for “Puzzles,” and “God Knows I Had Plans.”

And while Islands kneels beside great works of  The Cure and New Order, The Mary Onettes provide an exceedingly legitimate hand to claim hold of the torch.
