Timothy Showalter the man behind Strand of Oaks has had a roller coaster of a life. He was a former bus driving Pennsylvania Hebrew Dayschool teacher, but when a house fire uprooted his life to turned to music. Showalter would strum alone with a borrowed guitar on park benches until inspiration found him. Those moments led to Strand of Oaks new album Leave Ruin. Listening to Strand of Oaks makes me think of a summer evening, Showalter’s easy walking guitar and soulful croon is instantly likeable. This February Strand of Oaks is taking a tour though the Midwest and East Coast in hopes to draw new fans in. With the the current popularity of Country influenced acts, Strand of Oaks as a helluva a fighting chance.
