Jacksonville, Florida isn’t exactly the music capital of the world, but every now and then an artist pops out of the scene that is truly intriguing. Case in point: meet Sunbears! an emerging duo who you will not forget anytime soon. Made up of Jonathan Grant Berlin(vocals, keyboards, bass guitar, programming) and Jared Chase Bowser (drums), the band blends indie-pop with electro beats that will have you humming their tunes in no time. Think of  them as MGMT lite. Sunbears! have just released their newest EP titled Dream Happy Dreams which is filled with infectious songs that flow beautifully into each other.

Berlin’s voice is slightly comparable to Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard which will turn some heads at first listen. The first single “I’m Alive” is filled with a horn section and brilliant harmonies that will surprise you with each listen. Every track will leave you wanting more, the best thing a record can offer. Sunbears! have recently toured with the likes of Dredg, Mates of State and Black Kids, and they’re lining up fall tour dates of their own. This is one band to watch out for in 2009.
